Cardiology
Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the investigation, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the cardiovascular system which includes the heart, arteries, veins, arterioles, venules, and capillaries.
At One Hatfield Hospital, we offer regular Outpatient clinics with our Consultant Cardiologists. Where possible, we aim to offer patients the convenience of a one-stop clinic to both reassure and make a diagnosis where necessary. We also provide cardiac screening to assess the health of your heart and your risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
Our team of Cardiologists can rapidly assess your condition. Common conditions include:
- Angina
- Arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythms)
- Cardiovascular risk assessment
- Congenital heart conditions
- Coronary heart disease
- Heart failure
- Heart valve disease
- High blood pressure
- Inherited heart conditions
- Syncope/Loss of consciousness
Much of the work in Cardiology involves improving survival rates for patients and improving quality of life following heart attacks, heart failure, or heart rhythm disorders. However, Cardiologists are also concerned with understanding the disease process and disease prevention.
