Dr Sharmishtha Sarkar

Dr Sharmishtha Sarkar is a NHS Consultant in East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, specialising in Paediatrics with subspecialty in Community Child Health (Neurodevelopment Paediatrics).

This is her 7th year as a Consultant, she thoroughly enjoy working with children and their families, she often also liase with schools and other allied health professionals to ensure that the child has the best journey in attaining physical and emotional wellbeing, by ensuring that their and medical and neurodevelopmental needs are met.

Dr Sarkar is the the Designated Officer for Special Educational Needs for her employing NHS trust, providing medical advise for children with Special Educational Needs to the Local Educational Authority . She is the lead for Children with Downs Syndrome in her capacity as a Consultant in her Department.

Dr Sarkar is a busy mother of 2 boys trying to juggle family and work . Her passion is reading and cooking dishes from all over the world.

She has been involved in research being a member of the group in Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health that was responsible for publishing guidelines for management of childhood stroke in May 2018. Other research interest – Epilepsy, Autism.
