Consultant Cardiologist
Dr. Manivannan Srinivasan is a consultant interventional cardiologist at the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust (Lister Hospital, Stevenage, QEII Hospital, Welwyn Garden City and Hertford County Hospital, Hertford). He currently contributes towards the general and interventional cardiology services in East and North Hertfordshire, including the provision of daytime primary percutaneous coronary intervention for local patients suffering a heart attack. He also serves as the Cath Lab lead and Clinical Governance lead for the department.
He qualified from the Stanley Medical College in India 1995 aided by National Merit Scholarship Scheme. After completion of PLAB exam in the UK, he completed SHO training in North West of England. Then he completed his post graduate higher specialist training in cardiology in All Wales Cardiology Training Program. Having worked in high volume centres such as Morriston Hospital, Swansea and University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff in the UK and Mount Sinai Hospital, New York in the US, he gained enormous expertise and experience in performing complex coronary angioplasty procedures mainly via the Trans radial route.
He successfully completed a presigious two year W.L Stevenson Fellowship in a World renowned academic insitution at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, United States. His research interests includes micro vascular dysfunction in Myocardial Infarction and protein alterations in diabetes leading to coronary artery disease. He conducted a number of basic science and outcome based clinical projects during this time. He published his findings in peer reviewed high impact cardiology medical journals and presented in various national and international conferences. Throughout this period, Dr Srinivasan has worked with and continues to collaborate with a number of eminent interventionalists and world leaders in cardiology.
Dr Srinivasan is currently a member of the Royal College of Physicians (London), British Cardiovascular Society, British Cardiovascular Intervention Society, and European Association of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.
