Dr Ling Ling Chuah

Professional Profile

Dr Chuah graduated from University of Aberdeen. She completed her specialist training in South East London and undertook her Master in Diabetes and Endocrinology at King’s College London. She was intrigued to learn how weight loss surgery could help patients with a long term condition such as diabetes.

Dr Chuah undertook clinical research at Imperial College London. She was awarded an MD for her research in 2016. She has presented at National and International conferences for her work. She is also a reviewer for peer review journals. She joined East Kent Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as a consultant endocrinologist in 2014. Due to family commitments, she moved back to London in 2016 and was consultant at Croydon University Hospital. She was instrumental in leading the development of integrated community diabetes services at Croydon, supporting primary care in managing diabetes. She joined King’s College Hospital as consultant endocrinologist in 2021. This enables her to continue her special interest in weight, thyroid management and research.

Personal Profile

Dr Chuah went to school in Malaysia and Singapore before moving to the United Kingdom. She is proficient in English, Mandarin and Malay. She enjoys multicultural cuisine, reading and travelling. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends, yoga and exploring the countryside.

Research & Publications

Dr Chuah’s research interest is on weight management in patients with Type I and Type 2 Diabetes. She has published extensively on weight management and diabetes. She is actively interested in the effect of excess cortisol secretion on metabolism. She is a principal investigator for SPARROW trial (a trial investigating a drug which can treat adrenal excess). She is also the chief investigator for the trial in the United Kingdom. She is an investigator for the ADDRESS 2 study (a trial recruiting patients newly diagnosis of Type I diabetes).
