Dr Buchanan grew up in Kent before studying for her medical degree in Birmingham, graduating in 2001. After working in Stoke-on-Trent in General Medicine/gastroenterology, surgery and paediatrics, Dr Buchanan then completed her GP training in Medway. This included posts in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, elderly care/cardiology and paediatrics. Dr Buchanan became a GP Partner at Whitstable Medical Practice in 2006 where she has continued to develop her career. Dr Buchanan is currently the lead for education at the practice as well as a GP trainer. Dr Buchanan has completed additional qualifications in Medical Education and Leadership, Family Planning and the Diploma in Child Health and is currently completing the Core Accreditation in Lifestyle Medicine with the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine. 

Personal Profile

Dr Buchanan is married with two teenage children and they enjoy outdoor, adventurous activities together. Dr Buchanan is a keen runner and takes an active part in her local Parkrun.
