Professional Profile

Mr Abhijeet Shah is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the East Kent Hospitals University Foundation NHS trust. He is the lead consultant for endometriosis and complex benign laparoscopic surgeries and also has special interest in early pregnancy problems including recurrent miscarriages. He developed the Gynaecology emergency assessment unit which has enhanced patient care and satisfaction.

Mr. Shah has received additional training in advanced laparoscopy, operative hysteroscopy and is a BSCCP certified Colposcopist. He has also achieved Fellowship in minimal access surgery, which involves management of pelvic endometriosis, resections of fibroids and laparoscopic hysterectomies.

The majority of his operations are performed as keyhole surgeries with quicker recovery and minimal scars for patients.

Personal Profile

Mr. Shah enjoys work life balance and enjoys travelling. He underwent undergraduate medical training in Mumbai, India. He undertook specialty Registrar training in the South East London rotation, including Kings College Hospital, London.

Mr. Shah is passionate about playing cricket and currently chairperson/player of the East Kent Cricket Club (EKCC). His other interests are trekking and playing squash.

Research Interests

Mr. Shah has been involved with research since 2005 and has published fourteen international peer reviewed articles in journals. He regularly presents his laparoscopic and early pregnancy video presentations at national and international conferences/congress. He has won several awards in the International conference and speaker at the congress in the filed of laparoscopic surgery.
